I left this training with new skills, inspiration, and grateful for a chance to learn editing skills with Jennifer Schine [pronounced SHINE] and Jen Moss. Such a range of amazing voices, courageous women, authentic stories, and sound artists.

Part of the workshop was concrete skills building such as using current technology to record and edit our very own podcasts. Here are my very first 10 minutes of learning the free “Reaper” editing program: ​”Liminal Spaces”​. It is an interview with Pamela Post; a long time CBC story producer, journalism instructor, and Tsmishian storyteller.

As an audio postcard sharing the “story from hear”; you will hear the very local sounds of Hollyhock: an Alan Watts quote, Siobhan Robinsong’s weekly singing in the lodge, and the reminders of the physical: staff and kitchen sounds.

I hope these short soundscapes inspire islanders to record their days and favourite places!
