Eight Days To Comment on Delta’s Proposed LNG Terminal

The National Energy Board has already granted an export license, to US based WesPac Midstream, for a facility that could bring up to 120 LNG tankers and 90 LNG barges into the Fraser River every year.  The public’s opportunity to make their concerns known ends June 11. There are only eight days to comment on Delta’s proposed LNG terminal (WesPack Tilbury Marine Jetty).

Pull Together to Fight the Northern Gateway Project

They spoke of the Canadian Government’s failure to fulfill its obligations to First Nations. Chief Marilyn Slett, of the Heiltsuk spoke of the need to defend her traditional territory. Acting Chief Clarence Innis mentioned that the Gitxaala still obtain 80% of their food from the ocean and an oil spill would have a catastrophic effect on their way of life. Five first Nations are involved: Gitxaala, Kitasoo Xai’xais, Heiltsuk, Nadleh Whut’en and Nak’azdli. Sierra Club BC and the Victoria based Raven Trust are urging the people of British Columbia to support them and pull together to fight the Northern Gateway Project.

Kitimat Residents saying No! to a Pipeline

A symbolic fight for British Columbia’s future is underway. A little town, with less than 10,000 people, is being given the choice denied to the rest of us. A plebiscite in which there will be some, possibly many, Kitimat Residents saying No! to a pipeline.
