China’s ability to deliver sustained emission reductions now depends on translating its rapid renewable energy expansion into industrial transformation, according to a new analysis by Agora Energy China and Agora Energiewende. The country’s energy transition is entering a new phase in which central priorities also include system integration and an absolute emission reduction trajectory.
Released ahead of China’s 15th Five-Year Plan (FYP, 2026-2030) for energy development, the data-driven analysis identifies ten major trends that shaped the country’s energy and industrial transition during the previous FYP period (2021-2025).
