“It was all done within eight hours. They brought a giant crane up from Chemainus. It was barged over to Quadra, set up early in the morning and it went like clockwork,” says Maureen McDowell, President of the Quadra Island Seniors Housing Society.

Between eight and ten tenants observed the construction.

“It was a very nice day. We were there from about 1 o’clock to 4:30, to see the last one put into place. The tenants were excited. A couple of them peaked in windows and seen everything that was in place. You can see stoves, fridges and things like that. The whole interior is already built, so it is kind of like moving a whole furnished trailer or house. We were there from about 1 o’clock to 4:30, to see the last one put into place.”

Next: The Roof

The lumber for the roof arrives Wednesday.

“I do not think it will take too long for Ketza Pacific to put it up. I’m assuming it will take a couple of weeks, but I haven’t checked my construction schedule. I don’t think it will take too long and they still have a lot of site servicing and trenching to do.”
