Drug checking shows unpredictable list of additives contributing to death toll

Vancouver Island, BC – A lab was shut down in late March, stopping $7.8 million worth of fentanyl and cocaine that were meant to be distributed throughout the Lower Mainland and Vancouver Island.

Vancouver Police Departments launched the Toluene Project in January to focus on criminals manufacturing and trafficking illicit drugs throughout the region.

B.C.’s Toxic Drug Crisis Brings Tragedy and Compassionate Response from Quadra Mom

It’s hard to imagine anything more devastating than the loss of a beloved child. The dreams left unrealized, the promise unfulfilled, the hopes obliterated. Last week B.C.’s Chief Coroner Lisa Lapointe announced there were 2,272 suspected drug toxicity deaths in the province in 2022. At least one of those was a child of Quadra.

Quadra Circle receives $25,000 Emergency Preparedness Grant

United Way British Columbia awarded an Emergency Preparedness and Response grant of $25,000 to Quadra Circle.

“We’re pretty excited about it. We are a group of various social service and community organizations on Quadra,” said Maureen McDowell, President of Quadra Circle.

Quadra Circle’s ‘Better at Home Program,’ the Quadra Island Neighbourhood Emergency Preparedness Program (NEPP), Quadra Island Seniors Housing, Quadra Legion Branch 154, Quadra ICAN, Old Age Pensioners and the Quadra Island Medical Clinic are all involved.
