There is a little spot of Eden just outside of Gibsons. A 7-kilometre-long network of trails guides visitors along Roberts Creek and through the old growth forest. Sampling a slice of nature at Cliff Gilker Park can be an afternoon’s experience, or a short relaxing walk.
Sampling A Slice Of Nature At Cliff Gilker Park
This is the kind of place that reaches out to your heart, washing off the business of outside concerns.
There was no human presence when we arrived, only sunlight dancing on trees festooned with moss and lichens.
Getting There
The entrance to Gilker Park is just off Hwy. 101 in Roberts Creek, approximately 11 km west of Gibsons.
There are four walking trails, marked by blue, green, gray and red patches.
Some are said to wheelchair accessible, which is not true of the one we followed.
Sunshine Coast Trails suggests you, “Keep in mind that these trails are a mountain bikers dream and if you are hiking along them you will need to watch out for speeding bikes :-)”
We also obtained an excellent video of the park from Valerie Labrecque of LiveOnTheSunshineCoast.ca
