Campbell Riverites Must Wear masks on buses

BC Transit is making sure that Campbell Riverites have no excuse to not have masks on buses. On Thursday, Aug. 20, masks will be handed out to passengers in the Campbell River Transit system at two locations – the Community Centre and the Highway 19A/Erickson Exchange – between 12 p.m. and 2 p.m.

Remembering Lives Lost in the Downtown Eastside

More than 100 people gathered at Oppenheimer Park in the Downtown Eastside Saturday to remember family and friends who died in recent months, when COVID-19 precautions have prevented gatherings to remember lost loved ones.

Fairy Creek environmental blockade near Port Renfrew

Government and company officials continue to avoid comment as an environmental blockade near Port Renfrew reached its fifth day Friday.  Attempts by the Mirror to speak to representatives of logging company Teal Jones and area MLA and Premier John Horgan went unreturned, as protesters continued with a blockade launched Monday to stop Teal Jones Group from punching road access into the Fairy Creek watershed.

Namgis WIn Salmon Farm Appeal

Canada’s Federal Court of Appeal has decided in favour of ‘Namgis First Nation’s allegation that Fisheries and Oceans should have consulted them before issuing a salmon farm transfer licence to Mowi in 2018.
