QISHS president Maureen McDowell is delighted to reach this milestone in the seven-year undertaking, arranging homes for Quadra seniors in an affordable facility, with support availabe through the Better at Home service program.

She spoke about the outpouring of community support the Society has received, from gift baskets to homemade quilts for the tenants, as well as cash donations, volunteer labour and free materials.

There are still about 30 names on the QISHS waitlist, and McDowell said “this is only a drop in the bucket” in terms of meeting the housing needs on Quadra Island.
