Coast Mountain Air Not Flying To Campbell River (Yet)

In a previous article, I wrote Central Mountain Air will resume daily service to and from Vancouver as of Monday, June 8. This statement was based on a previous notice on their website and the fact their booking page listed three flights arriving at and leaving Campbell River that day. This has changed. The airline’s launch date is now July 6th and Coast Mountain Air is not flying to Campbell River.

Should We Reopen Island Rail?

The Island Railway suspended operations on March 18, 2011, due to safety concerns about the condition of the tracks. Plans to reopen the line continue to this day. In fact, one of the items of correspondence at the  Strathcona Regional District’s May 13th Board Meeting was an email from Nanaimo Mayor Leonard Krog.
