North American cities are primarily designed for automotive traffic. There has been more attention to bicycles, buses and trains, but most people still look upon them as a poor person’s transportation. There is a much different model in Europe. In Germany, public transit is often the preferred way to travel.

A Call for Modernization of Metro Vancouver’s Infrastructure

Over a million people could into the Metro Vancouver area during the next three decades, adding another 600,000 automotive trips per day to the already congested roads. the existing infrastructure will not be adequate. The Mayors’ Council, of 23 mayors in the region, are calling for modernization of Metro Vancouver’s infrastructure.

Metro Vancouver Will have Canada’s Longest Transit System

“You know that  it is a tradition in the tunnel boring industry to name the machine after woman,” British Columbia’s Premier, Christy Clark, began. “We are here today to christen this machine Alice, after  Alice Wilson who was the very first woman they ever hired in the Geological Survey of Canada.” Once the tunnel it bores is operational, Metro Vancouver will have Canada’s longest transit system.

California High Speed Rail

Construction on the first 65 miles of California’s high-speed rail project is about to begin. That is despite a new bill from Congress’ transportation committee, which has blocked funding in 2014. The Republican-controlled House was too slow, they already provided $3.5 and the money can not be taken back. Now the California’s High Speed Rail Authority has released a report stating the project will produce zero net greenhouse gas emissions
