Portable Electric Can Power Almost Anything

By Roy L Hales

Screen-shot-2014-03-18-at-3.43.47-PMPortable Electric came out of Vancouver’s 2015 Great Climate Race. This is a “walk and run race,” with 2 kilometre and 10 kilometre events, through the city’s iconic Stanley Park. The event raises funds and awareness for local community solar-energy projects. In similar  outdoor events through-out North America, the associated venues are powered by portable gas and diesel generators. Generators can be extremely helpful to have in any work place, or event at home for some situations. We do recommend checking out some reviews first from sites like https://generatorgrid.com/ before you do go ahead and purchase one though.

Having previously installed solar plus battery systems in Africa, the Great Climate Race’s power co-ordinator knew how to resolve this apparent contradiction. After the race, Mark Rabin founded a new company to continue providing solar plus battery power to outdoor events throughout Western Canada. Portable Electric can power almost anything from music festivals, to emergency situations or film sets.

How Long Do Solar Panels Last?

By Roy L Hales

Screen-shot-2014-03-18-at-3.43.47-PMThough many believe the lifetime of a solar panel is twenty-five years, a number of older models have exceeded this. When Kyocera tested a 30-year-old module, last year, they discovered it was still operating at 90.4% of capacity. There are 37-year-old Arco Solar (now SolarWorld USA) panels in operation. So How long do solar panels Last?

The Growth Of US Renewables During 2014 As A Vindication

By Roy L Hales

Screen-shot-2014-03-18-at-3.43.47-PM1It has been 37 years since Dr Allan Hoffman gave President Jimmy Carter the plan that could have started America’s renewable revolution. The idea was shelved after Reagan was elected. Hoffman waited, as administration after administration ignored the potential, until Barack Obama was elected. The retired senior Department of Energy executive views the growth of US renewables during 2014 as a vindication of what he and his colleagues saw decades ago.More Than Half Of The New Capacity

The Anti-Chinese Dumping Duties Stand

By Roy L Hales

Screen-shot-2014-03-18-at-3.43.47-PM1The Anti-Chinese Dumping Duties stand. The US International Trade Commission upheld the US Department of Commerce’s Decision, from December 16, by 5-0 vote for China, and  4-1 with regard to Taiwan.  Anti-dumping duty rates of 52.13% and anti-subsidy rates of 38.72% will be imposed on most solar panels imported from China. Anti-dumping rates of 19.50% will be imposed on most solar cells from Taiwan, regardless of where the panels are assembled into panels.

What’s Behind PetersenDean’s Allegations?

By Roy L Hales

Screen-shot-2014-03-18-at-3.43.47-PM1PetersenDean claims 7 of the  11 Board members displayed on Solar Energy Industries Association’s (SEIA) homepage are from “Chinese-based manufacturing and affiliated companies” and SEIA represents Chinese rather than American interests. They are calling upon the Board to resign and are “asking for an ethics investigation under the SEIA by-laws, including Article 10.” To which SEIA responded that PetersenDean is not one of their members and their allegations are “a PR puffball.” What’s Behind PetersenDean’s Allegations?
