Campbell River’s Homeless Camp

Complaints about a homeless camp at the end of Quinsam Road were discussed at the August 17th Campbell River city council meeting. The number of tents has expanded to the point they are now visible from the road. RCMP now respond to calls from the area on a regular basis. Canada Post notified residents that it considers the area ‘unsafe’ and will no longer deliver to their mail boxes.

+1500 homeless in Greater Victoria

The Regional Capital District (CRD), in partnership with the Community Social Planning Council and the Greater Victoria Coalition to End Homelessness, released the results of the 2020 Greater Victoria Spot Count on Friday. It follows previous biennial counts conducted in 2016 and 2018 and is funded by the Government of Canada. As of March 11, 2020, 1,523 people were homeless in the Capital Region, compared to 1,525 on March 15, 2018.

Vancouver Requires Tent City Residents To Remove Their Belongings Every Day

VANCOUVER — The Vancouver parks board has caused controversy with a bylaw that would require homeless campers in the city to remove their belongings every day in the morning before returning, as part of regulations demanded by some neighbours’ complaints who still say not enough enforcement is happening.

Tenants Must Start Paying Rent As Of October 1st

The government of British Columbia will lift the ban on evictions for non-payment of rent on September 1. Tenants will have until July 2021 to reimburse late rents.
