Prince George RCMP dog handler used “unreasonable force” in arrest, complaints commission finds

A former Prince George RCMP officer currently on trial on another matter used “unreasonable force” when arresting a suspected thief, the RCMP Civilian Complaints Commission says in a final report.

The suspect, identified only as A.B., suffered skull fractures, a broken jaw, puncture wounds, and other injuries when apprehended by Cst. Joshua Grafton in September 2015, according to the report.

Property being illegally seized at Fairy Creek old-growth blockades, lawyers argue

Kimberly Murray faces a difficult dilemma after her vehicle was towed during an RCMP raid of the Fairy Creek old-growth blockades on Vancouver Island in early August. 

Aside from questions about whether the car was legally impounded, given it was parked outside the RCMP temporary exclusion zone off to the side of the road on Aug. 9, Murray is facing a $2,500 fee to get it back.

Over 90 complaints about police misconduct at Fairy Creek received says RCMP watchdog

There’s been over 90 complaints filed about police actions at the Fairy Creek logging blockade since June 25.

Kate McDerby, director of strategic communications and outreach for the Civilian Review and Complaints Commission for the RCMP (CRCC), confirmed 25 of those complaints are currently being investigated.

73 complaints against the RCMP at Fairy Creek

The federal agency that holds RCMP to account has received a total of 73 public complaints associated with enforcement measures at the Fairy Creek old-growth logging blockades in British Columbia, says the legal team representing the activist group.
