Q̓ᵂalayu House serves Cortes families seeking medical care in Campbell River

Q̓ᵂalayu House is a housing facility for pregnant women, and families with children seeking medical care in Campbell River and the facility is open to Cortes residents that fit this criteria and are travelling for medical care. The facility opened on July 12th, 2021.

Local Family Support Coordinator for the Cortes Community Health Association (CCHA) Desta Beattie is available to assist locals with the application process. Beattie said the sign up process is easy.

Non-profits collaborate to boost public infrastructure in Mansons Landing

There’s a new public resource in Mansons Landing thanks to a recent joint community effort.

A group of non-profits—the Cortes Island Social Profit Network, The Cortes Community Economic Development Association (CCEDA), the Cortes Island Community Foundation, and Cortes Community Health Association (CCHA)—all contributed to “The Pod Project,” now located at the Village Commons in downtown Mansons.

The Forest Trust for the Children of Cortes Island Society will hold its AGM on January 29th, 2022. 

It has been close to 12 years since Sabina Leader-Mense and Christine Robinson launched the initiative to purchase 600 acres from Island Timberlands forest holdings.
