Vancouver intends to be obtain 100% of its’ electricity from renewable sources by 2050. This is quite a jump from the 31% usage today and involves conservation as well as incorporating new energy sources. One of the firms that make 100% possible is Kambo Green Solutions, which provides businesses with solutions to lower their energy needs.

The New Renewable is Recycled Energy Technologies

By 2016, twenty percent of the energy Xcel Energy is feeding into Colorado’s grid will have to come from renewables. The state’s Public Utilities Commission ruled that up to 20 MW per year of this can come from industrial facilities that convert waste heat to power. The new renewable is recycled energy technologies.

Germany Leads the World in Energy Efficiency

Germany leads the World in energy efficiency, according to the 2014 scorecard released by the American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy (ACEEE) today. Sixteen nations were studied. Six of the top 10 were from Europe. Canada was the only North American nation to make the cut, placing 9th.

Possibly the First Passive House on Vancouver Island

Winters can be deceptively cold on the West Coast of British Columbia (BC). People from Fort McMurray Alberta – where temperatures often drop to minus 40 – tell me they did not feel the chill back home. It’s the damp cold that soaks into your bones. Hearing this, some of you may be surprised to find that the house pictured above was heated by two little 500 watt heaters through the coldest part of winter. Rob Bernhardt says, “It is the first building Vancouver Island home targeting certification under the international Passive House standard.” (That’s quite a mouthful!) I would phrase that a little differently, it is possibly the first passive house on Vancouver Island.

How 204 US mayors spent their stimulus money

As part of the economic stimulus package five years ago, Congress allotted $3.2 billion for Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grants (EECBG) to be spent by local governments. 204 US mayors filled out questionnaires explaining how that money was spent in their cities.
