Skeena Bulkley MP Bachrach welcomes release of rail safety report

A rail safety report providing 33 recommendations was released by the House of Commons Transport Committee on June 2.

The report voices the frustrations felt by residents and leaders in Northwest B.C. with railway companies that ship increasing volumes of traffic through their communities, such as Prince Rupert and Port Edward, as well as detailing concerns with conditions and safety standards for rail line workers.

Northwest B.C. cop reflects on her 25 years of RCMP service

In 2015, Const. Angela Rabut was receiving an award at a ceremony, when a stranger came forward and asked her if she could give her a hug.

Rabut was pleasantly surprised but obliged to the request. The woman told Rabut she was the reason her life changed for the better many years ago.

Ridley Island: Vopak’s Proposed Prince Rupert Export Terminal

Ridley Island in Prince Rupert, B.C., is home to the region’s primary export  terminal. Freight trains rumble in 24/7, carrying goods like grain, coal  and — more recently — liquified petroleum gas, commonly known as  propane. Massive ships in the adjacent deep waters are loaded with this  cargo, mostly destined for transport across the Pacific.
