Jagmeet Singh requests emergency debate on Ottawa trucker protest

Federal NDP leader Jagmeet Singh, is calling for an emergency debate on how to handle the truckers convoy occupying the nation’s capital.

“We really need to take it seriously,” Singh said in a press conference Monday morning. “They’re terrorizing and intimidating citizens and people, instead of what a regular protest does: focus on the government and government decisions.”

No one size fits all when it comes to building healthier and greener communities

Five new reports bring human health to the forefront of the climate mitigation conversation in an attempt to empower communities and decision-makers to consider local impacts when deciding on low-carbon infrastructure.

“It’s really an effort to advance the discussions and look at how infrastructure has not only the benefit of reducing emissions, but really improving community health,” said Aline Coutinho, a research associate with the Smart Prosperity Institute who authored two of the reports.

Alberta’s tailings ponds are growing & Environmental groups want the Feds to intervene

Environmental groups are calling on the federal government to step in after oilsands tailing ponds grew by 90 million cubic metres in 2020 despite a drop in oil production, according to a report released last week by the Alberta Energy Regulator (AER).

Election 2021: NFA attack ads target Trudeau as Tories shift gears on gun control

The federal Conservative Party is distancing itself from a controversial firearms lobby group to dispel attacks from the Liberals painting it as a party that strikes deals with gun lobbyists. It even amended party policy to say that, if elected, a Conservative government would keep the Liberal gun restrictions and complete a review of those rules.

Vancouver seeking $20 million grant to capture and clean rainfall
