  • Wonder if elderberry ok to eat raw?
  • Or does honey infusion render it safe?
  • Or is it a question of type of sambucus used? —J

The short answer to your question is that elderberry is not toxic but rather it is emetic/purgative with some people, which mean some people can get nauseous or (if taken in really large doses or are very sensitive) puke.. the solution being to discontinue the medicine in such case (obviously).

Prolonged Isolation Threatens Youth’s State Of Mind

Outreach workers are running errands or dropping off milkshakes, to get face time with vulnerable kids trapped at home during the pandemic. Counsellors are conducting therapy sessions in parks to better gage a youth’s state of mind while still adhering to distancing protocols. Youth workers are doing what they can to reach isolated children and teens living in the North Island region of Vancouver Island, B.C., and support their mental health during the COVID-19 pandemic.

What Happened After Mansons Hall Closed Its Doors?

It has been almost two months since Mansons Hall closed its doors to the public and laid off staff. The Southern Cortes Community Association (SCCA), which runs the hall, applied for the 75% wage subsidy to help pay the office manager. The office remained open to work on administrative tasks such as year end financials and respond to inquiries (like the email I sent them). Tenants continued to visit their spaces and the office manager took over the building’s cleaning duties for the next month.

Protect & Increase Your Health

At our meeting of our island’s health promoters last week, the negative impacts of long-term social distancing on physical and mental health arose as a significant shared concern. Since physical distancing is crucial for continuing to manage the COVID-19 crisis, finding effective ways to mitigate these impacts may help enhance personal and community resilience. To this end, I wanted to offer the following, which is taken partly from some work I’ve done regarding stress, general health, and COVID-19 for a collaborative project with a group of health science writers.
