SRD Excludes Public From Virtual Board Meeting

Strathcona Regional District is moving its meetings online due to COVID-19, but it is not allowing the public to attend, nor will it be making the meetings available to the public at a later date.

First SRD Virtual Board Meeting Ever; Public Denied Access

As a precautionary measure to help slow and limit the spread of the COVID-19 virus, the Strathcona Regional District (SRD) closed the doors of its administration building to the public on March 17, 2020. They also cancelled their usual board meeting at the end of the month. The first SRD virtual board meeting will be held on Wednesday, April 15, 2020.

Updating The SRD Grant In Aid Policy

The Strathcona Regional District (SRD) Board has talked about greater transparency and accountability for more than a year. Chief Administrative Officer David Leitch says staff examined the policies of virtually every regional district in British Columbia. However when they finally unveiled their proposed policy at the March 11, 2020 board meeting, all four regional directors were opposed. The process of updating the SRD Grant-In-Aid policy has begun.
