Framework developed to advance modern treaty implementation in B.C.

The Alliance of BC Modern Treaty Nations has developed a framework with the province to advance treaty implementation in British Columbia, which was announced on May 24.

It is the first of its kind within the province and renews B.C.’s commitment to effectively implement modern treaties, according to the Ministry of Indigenous Relations and Reconciliation.

“Vancouver was once covered in trees that had the girth of a good third of my house.  Those forests are gone,” Rainforest Flying Squad spokesperson Carol Tootill told CKTZ News.

Eight remote First Nations are vaccinated

According to recent statistics released by provincial health ministry and First Nations Health Authority (FNHA), almost 1,900 doses of Moderna vaccines have been distributed to eight remote First Nation communities within the Island Health region.
