Since November 2022 I’ve had the honour of representing the Discovery Islands and Mainland Inlets at the Strathcona Regional District Board. Representing Area C has been challenging & rewarding. I’m happy to share my intention to run for re-election this fall and I hope I can count on your support. General local elections are scheduled for October 17.
At their December 11 meeting, the Strathcona Regional District (SRD) Board passed a bylaw to regulate bulk water processing, bottling and sales on Read, Maurelle, Sonora, Stuart, and the Rendezvous islands.
Three Campbell River Directors voted against receiving the staff report for this bylaw.
Director Susan Sinnott explained, “I just want to hear from staff, the reasons necessary. Is there a pending application for people to bulk water in the Desolation Sound Area? Is there an imminent issue?”

Hello, It sure seemed a bustling August long weekend with parked cars lining roadsides in many popular locations. It’s nice sharing our island with visitors here to appreciate it; we are so fortunate to live in this beautiful community. The July 24 SRD Board meeting resulted in several decisions and items to report on: the Schellinck proposal, wharves, short-term rentals in the Outer Discovery Islands, and two upcoming public hearings.
