Ester moves on from The Tideline

After 14 years at the helm, Ester Strijbos is moving on from the Tideline. In one of the archived posts, from the fall of 2011, she wrote: 

“Last year June, after careful consideration, Richard Trueman decided to step down from cortesisland.com (Tideline). I took over from Richard in July 2010. Irene Blueth is still Assistant Editor, which means that she takes care of the Tideline when I am away, and also helps make editing decisions.”

Old Schoolhouse Art Gallery: The 2022 Members Show 

An exquisite scene hangs outside the Old Schoolhouse Art Gallery for the 2022 Annual member’s Show. A hummingbird is depicted flying upward to sample the nectar from a cluster of flowers. Izabelle Perry’s piece is actually a gateway, which some members hope will become a permanent exhibit. The price is $2,500,   

Kristen Schofield Sweet agreed the gate is remarkable, but the membership would have to agree for the gallery to make an investment like that.

GeoScience BC Talks To The SRD Board

GeoScience BC released the results of their most recent mineral survey. Close to 20% of Northern Vancouver Island was covered. The village of Tahsis and parts of Regional District A, in the Strathcona Regional District (SRD), are within this area. Thirty-five new claims were staked within a month of this information being made public. On  Feb 26, 2020, GeoScience BC made a presentation to the SRD Board.
