Canada’s climate plans ‘highly insufficient’ in global ranking

The independent Climate Action Tracker (CAT) has crunched the numbers on countries’ updated 2030 Paris Agreement targets and found Canada’s “highly insufficient,” pouring cold water on Liberal Leader Justin Trudeau’s campaign emphasis on expert endorsements.

G20 scorecard: continuing to heavily subsidize fossil fuels

When the world met in Paris, in 2009, they signed commitments to adopt “finance flows consistent with a pathway toward low greenhouse gas emissions and climate-resilient development.” A G20 scorecard from the Institute for Sustainable Development finds that the actions of G20 nations contradict this.

The Future of Japan’s Solar Industry Is Uncertain

According to Amory Lovins, “Japan has twice the per-hectare high-quality renewable potential of North America, three times that of Europe, and nine times that of Germany.” Japan is currently #4 in the Renewable Energy Country Attractiveness Index (RECAI). There is a large untapped geothermal potential. By the end  of 2013 wind energy was feeding 2.6 GW to the grid, but the real leader of the renewable sector was solar. There was 13.5 GW of solar capacity. Now the future of Japan’s solar industry is uncertain.
